Supervisor, K-12 Curriculum Literacy: Olentangy Local Schools

There will be a Supervisor, K-12 Curriculum Literacy position available within the Olentangy Local School District fir the 2024-25 school year. The Supervisor, K-12 Curriculum Literacy is responsible for overseeing and enhancing literacy/ELA instruction across all grade levels. This individual will work closely with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective literacy programs that support student learning and achievement.

Qualifications for the position include:  Advanced degree in administration or related field (preferred); valid teaching license with a reading endorsement (preferred); minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in reading, literacy, and/or ELA (preferred); strong knowledge of literacy curriculum, Science of Reading, literacy and other assessment tools, and data analysis; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong facilitation skills with adult participants/learners; and experience in curriculum development and instructional coaching (preferred). Alternative to the above qualifications as the superintendent and/or board of education may find appropriate.

Key responsibilities for the position include:  Develop, implement, and evaluate K-12 literacy curriculum to ensure alignment with state standards, current legislation, related to the Science of Reading, and other best practices (e.g., motivation, culturally-responsive pedagogy); provide professional development and training for specialists/coaches, ELA teachers, content-specific teachers at elementary and secondary levels on the effective instructional practices of literacy, its research-based assessment tools, and resources; collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., literacy coaches, principals, district administrators) to analyze student data and to identify areas for intervention, extension, and curriculum revision; support teachers and literacy specialists in designing engaging and differentiated literacy lessons to meet the needs of culturally- and linguistically-diverse learners; stay current on research-based literacy practices and trends in education to inform curriculum decisions; lead literacy teams to drive MTSS, state and district-literacy initiatives, professional development in literacy instruction district-wide; and establish partnerships with families, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support literacy development outside of the classroom.
