Job Objectives: Supervises the planning, delivery assessment, and ongoing improvement of the area of K-12 student activities/clubs and athletics.

Status: Non-Union/Non-Administrative – Exempt, FLSA exempt

Terms of Employment: 260-day work calendar, starting July 1 annually. Additional benefits as detailed in the non-union/non-administrative handbook and benefit guidelines

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Education, Sport Management, Operational Management or comparable degree.
Organizational management skills substantiated by training and/or work experience.
Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, etc.).
A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
A valid license issued by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
Comprehensive knowledge of interscholastic athletic program regulations and OHSAA rules and regulations.
Available to work irregular hours and/or a non-traditional schedule.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
• Ensure the safety of students.
• Administers the total activities and athletic programs under the policies and regulations set by the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the Conference, and the Board of Education.
• Serves as a liaison between the building principals in an effort to integrate activities and athletic goals in all schools.
• Develops and administers system-wide activities and athletic budgets in coordination with advisors, coaches, and the treasurer’s office.
• Coordinates a centralized purchasing procedure for activities and athletic equipment, including maintaining inventory and purchasing first aid supplies.
• Coordinates the activities of the club advisors, Coaching staff, faculty managers, game day workers, and event officials.
• Coordinates and articulates the duties and responsibilities of all coaches and advisors by way of written procedures and processes.
• In collaboration with building principals, interviews and recommends to the Superintendent all advisors and coaches to be recommended for employment.
• In collaboration with the Director of Operations, make recommendations for maintaining and improving activity and athletic facilities.
• Verifies academic eligibility (scholastic, annual physical, etc.), ensuring compliance with Huron Board policy, OHSAA, and NCAA requirements.
• Monitors advisors’ and coaches’ attendance and completion of required DEW/OHSAA certifications and Final Forms required student participation certifications.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Advances the district’s professional image and community partnerships.
Promote establishing and maintaining internal/external community partnerships to enhance the students’ experiences in activities and athletics.
Establish and maintain open/effective communications using a solution-finding approach as an information and support resource.
Promote school events and accomplishments through multiple methods of communication, website, social media, district communication, and local/regional news outlets.
Participates as an active member of the district management team.
Administers the board-approved budget for assigned areas of responsibility. Requisitions program supplies/equipment. Ensures that program resources are equitably apportioned.
Encourages program innovations. Pursues funding opportunities. Implements funded proposals.
Manages the accurate and timely completion of reports, records, and inventories.
Encourages parent/alumni organizations and promotes school-sponsored activities.
Administer the district’s interscholastic activities and athletic programs.
Ensures that all student participants receive appropriate instruction, support, and opportunities to participate. Support, guidance, and accountability are provided to help students benefit from program participation.
Participates in strategic planning activities to ensure that adequate financial resources and facilities are provided to achieve short/long-range objectives.
Shared with the Director of Operations, oversees ongoing maintenance programs to protect and preserve program resources (e.g., buildings, grounds, equipment, etc.).
Participates in and makes recommendations for advisor and coaching staff selection and orientation processes. Verifies that all advisors and coaches are properly qualified. Review procedures and schedules with staff before the start of the season.
Oversees revising and distributing the athletic/activities program handbook and student code of conduct.
Oversees the yearly registration and requirements for the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Upholds the activities and athletic conduct code. Maintains high expectations for students’ and staff’s behavior and performance. Helps advisors, coaches, and building principals with discipline issues.
Organizes and participates in activities and athletic recognition programs. Verifies that participants have fulfilled all district requirements for letters, awards, and/or certificates.
Conducts program evaluation and assessment audits to ensure integration of current trends and practices as internal and external developments occur.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervision is given by the Superintendent or designee.
