The Director of Instruction and Achievement will provide leadership in improving instructional practices that provide meaningful and equitable learning opportunities, so students continually progress and achieve at higher levels. Guide and oversee curricular design, instructional planning, assessment coordination, and continuous improvement planning. Provide on-going professional development and training to support instruction and achievement. Support teacher recruitment, development, and evaluation practices and systems. Oversee and support monitoring and compliance.
Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree (M.A.) in education related field
• At least five years of related experience
• Appropriate state of Ohio certification or licensure
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

• Knowledge of various academic areas and teaching methodologies
• Ability to work effectively with others
• Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
• Effective, active listening skills
• Organizational and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated knowledge or experience in curriculum development and implementation
• Demonstrated knowledge or experience in the evaluation of curriculum programs and student achievement
• Demonstrated knowledge of the student learning theories and teaching theories and practice
• Demonstrated experience in the implementation of technology into the instructional program
• Demonstrated ability to work well with staff and community
• Strong leadership skills
• Successful experience as a teacher and building administrator
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as a role model for students and staff
• Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
• Attend required meetings and in-services
• Attend work regularly and punctually
• Demonstrate a positive work ethic
• Work cooperatively with others in small groups
• Attend meetings as county representative or designee of superintendent
• Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students, parents, public and community with tact and diplomacy.
• Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
• Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
• Attend meetings and in-services as required
• Serve as liaison between the schools and community, state, and national professional organizations, the Ohio Department of Education and regional service providers
• Assist Superintendent to promote staff and community public relations
• Cultivate a positive working relationship with labor associations to collaboratively implement instructional initiatives and goals.
• Promote good public relations by personal appearances, positive attitude and conversations
• Support and attend evening and community events and activities
• Coordinate the One Needs Assessment
• Write, apply and actively seek Grant opportunities
• Supervise and evaluate school Principals
• Assist with supervising School Counselors
• Assist with school safety and security
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
