Title: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL 5-12

Qualifications:
* Appropriate State of Ohio Principal’s or Superintendent’s certificate/license
* Administrative experience preferred
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
* Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
* Good health, physical stamina, fitness and vitality

General Description:
Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school and serve as principal in the absence of the principal.

Essential Functions:
1. Facilitate an effective learning climate and foster good interpersonal relations among students and staff.
2. Exercise leadership in achieving district goals.
3. Supervise the daily use of the school facilities for academic and non-academic purposes as directed by the principal.
4. Help maintain good public relations with the community to further the understanding and support of the educational programs of the schools.
5. Maintain a good relationship with school organizations such as PTO and booster groups.
6. Assist and encourage stimulating opportunities for staff development.
7. Work with principal in recruiting, screening, and hiring of staff.
8. Discuss with principal the need for transfers or issues of staff performance.
9. Provide a written evaluation for staff members assigned to you regarding their performance according to policy.
10. Assist in the fostering good attendance of pupils and staff and oversee the recording and reporting of attendance as directed by the principal.
11. Maintain high standards of conduct for all students and enforce discipline codes according to board policy and due process rights of students.
12. Consult with principal regarding suspension and expulsion of students before such action is taken and submit a written report of such action.
13. Oversee fire and other emergency drills in accordance with state and local regulations, as directed by the principal.
14. Responsible for implementing processes to help maintain and safeguard school equipment and property to provide a healthy and safe environment for students
and staff.
15. Assist administrative team in development and implementation of building class schedules as directed by the principal.
16. Prepare reports, records, lists and etc. as directed by the principal.
17. Assist principal with the building budget and monitor expenditures of funds.
18. Assist principal with the requisition of supplies, textbooks, equipment and other material necessary for the operation of the building.
19. Assist principal in usage of school building to internal and outside groups through the online facility request program. Maintain and coordinate the activities of your
school with other schools within the district (i.e. district calendar).
20. Attend school & community events such as student recognition, activities, plays, and athletic contests as directed by the principal.
21. Keep principal informed concerning activities and problems within the building.
22. Where appropriate delegate authority to appropriate personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
23. Be prepared for prolonged or irregular hours and be willing and able to work on weekends and at various times of the day.

Additional Working Conditions
1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.

Preferred candidates will posess:
Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher and preferrably in an instructional leadership position
Strong background in secondary education
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of the district’s dynamic leadership team
Demonstrated skills in working with a variety of students Including special needs students and English Learners and staff to improve student achievement
Ability to help lead staff and students to high levels of performance.
