Qualifications:
A Valid Ohio Administrative License.
3 to 5 years or more of assistant principal or principal experience.
A Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with specific emphasis in school administration, special education, and/or curriculum and instruction.
OPES 2.0 Credentialed prior to August 15, 2023.
Demonstrates excellent organizational skills as well as consistent follow through and time management skills.
Promotes the district’s vision and mission. Works to be a team player and creative problem solver.
Stays up-to-date with current information pertinent to the specific job.
Maintains a professional appearance in dress, speech and actions. Respects the rights of others and respects the privacy of others, as well as maintaining confidentiality of privileged information.
Displays outstanding communication skills in oral, written and electronic media.
Exhibits the ability to effectively build an efficient middle school model master schedule.
Demonstrates long-range and short-term planning skills.
Demonstrates the ability to create a productive working environment by establishing positive relationships with staff, parents and students.
Job Responsibilities:
Addresses staff concerns and issues, including discipline, in collaboration with the Associate Principal and the Assistant Principal.
Assists with all matters related to curriculum and instruction.
Responsible for monitoring staff approval for field trips, time off, pay, etc.
Responsible for all building communications in collaboration with Associate Principal and Assistant Principal.
Responsible for all budgets.
Responsible for communicating with the union leadership.
Coordinates the selection process for the classified and certificated personnel assigned to the middle school.
Coordinates the work of team leaders.
Works with the assistant superintendent in the recruitment of teaching staff.
Provides leadership by supervising the improvement of instruction, staff development, faculty meetings, conferences and visitations for high school staff in conjunction with the department of curriculum and instruction.
Fosters good interpersonal relations among staff.
Interprets and implements management team procedures.
Plans and directs faculty meetings.
Appoints faculty committees.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with community, business and industry and encourages working relationships with them.
Monitors teacher absence, leaves, visitations, attendance at professional meetings, etc.
Assures the safety of students and staff through accident prevention programs, disaster drills and other appropriate means.
Directs or coordinates class activities, field trips, orientations, etc.
Provides for student discipline as necessary according to the established policies and regulations of the building and the district.
Meets with parent organizations and other interested citizen groups to facilitate their work.
Provides the parents and community with information about ongoing programs and develops means to insure the free flow of accurate information.
Coordinates preparation of the middle school master calendar and the development of the master schedule.
Meets with the head custodian to plan for proper maintenance, utilization and upkeep of the building.
Keeps the superintendent informed as to the condition of the school, personnel, student achievement and all activities.
Prepares or directs preparation of all required reports.
Supervises the middle school budget, accounting of activity funds, requisitioning, inventories, school records, etc.
Attends all meetings of the administrative staff and serves on various committees to promote development of the school system.
Shared responsibilities for MTSS, DLT, BLT and TBT.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other duties as the superintendent/designee may assign.
